Trip Extensions

Important information you need to know before extending your trip

  • Extending your flight ticket is YOUR OWN responsibility. Taglit-Birthright Israel is giving you the gift of a free 10-day trip. Additionally, they are giving you the opportunity of extending your flight ticket, subject to availability of seats and conditions outlined below. It is NOT Sachlav | IsraelOnTheHouse or Taglit-Birthright Israel’s responsibility to deal with any part of your flight ticket extension
  • We highly recommend extending your ticket prior to your departure as seats are limited and ticket extensions are not always available
  • Some airlines will fly out on Friday night and on Saturday (Shabbat) so if you are observant of Shabbat, you must choose your new return dates carefully
  • Flight extensions are non-refundable and therefore if you cancel your trip, you will forfeit this money
  • If you plan ahead to stay in Israel and not use your return ticket back to the US/Canada you must let us know immediately by emailing info@israelonthehouse.com to enable us to cancel your ticket to avoid incurring cancellation costs
  • Your flight extension is NOT confirmed until you have received written confirmation. Therefore, if you have not received confirmation, you MUST fly back on your original return date otherwise your original ticket will be cancelled and you will have to purchase a one way ticket home at your own expense
  • You MUST NOT extend your flight ticket if you do not hold a valid passport! Sachlav IsraelOnTheHouse reserves the right to remove you from a trip if you do not hold a valid passport and we will not cover any additional travel expenses incurred by you

Extending your Flight Ticket prior to leaving the USA

All extensions are made via Gil Travel (the travel agency working with all Birthright participants).
Click here to fill in the Gil Travel Application Form (this must be at least 15 days prior to departure). Ongoing travel plans MUST NOT be confirmed until you have received written confirmation of your new return flight date from Gil Travel.  To review airline extention conditions click here.

Extending your Flight Ticket once in Israel

When you are in Israel, if you plan to stay longer than the original or extended date, you must review the Airline ticket extension conditions which explain how to extend your ticket. All changes to your return are subject to availability with the airline. If you do not contact the airline prior to the confirmed return date to arrange another flight home, then you risk having your return ticket cancelled being "NULL and VOIDED" and may have to purchase a one way ticket to return home at your expense.
