The Official HouseRep FAQ and Rules for Summer 2010 Trips
Updated September 2009 for Summer Trip Registration and Participation Period. See Winter 2009 Rules here

What is a HouseRep?
A "HouseRep" is a representative of Sachlav/IsraelontheHouse.com and is usually an alumnus of one of our programs. HouseReps are passionate people who love to spread the word about Sachlav's free Taglit-Birthright Israel trip to Israel with friends, family, acquaintances and even complete strangers! HouseReps are rewarded by the great feeling they get when sharing news of our free 10-day trip to Israel with others….and by being eligible for getting more trips to Israel, on the house!

Why be a HouseRep?
The real reason to become a HouseRep is to share the Taglit-Birthright Israel gift with others since doing keeps demand for Taglit-Birthright Israel strong. To ensure that we have your undivided attention in this effort, we have added an incentive --- the ability to get another trip back to Israel "on the house" just for getting your friends to join a future Sachlav trip. That's right, a free trip to Israel, again!

How does a HouseRep get another Israel trip free?
Simple: just tell your friends, family, acquaintances and everyone else about Sachlav's free, amazing, one-of-a-kind Taglit-Birthright Israel trip and get them to join us. If you get 10 or more people – what we call a "Full House" – to participate a Sachlav trip between this summer (May 2010 thru August/Sept 2010), you'll can be awarded to come back to Israel again on the house!

How do I tell my friends?
We have set up a referral tracking system from the HouseRep Referral page on our IsraelontheHouse.com website.  All referrals must be made online through the HouseRep Referral webpage. When you enter a friend's name and email, they will receive an automated email from you asking them to sign-up for one of Sachlav's Taglit-Birthright Israel trips. That referral is now yours (unless someone has referred that person before you did) and you will get credit for that referral if they participate on one of our programs. NOTE: If your referrals have not been entered into our database through the HouseRep Referral page, they will not be accepted.  IMPORTANT:  The criteria used to identify each referral is the referred person's unique email (that's why the email field is mandatory).  If incorrect or faulty emails are entered for a referral, we will not be obligated to credit you for that referral even if all other details are correct. Make sure you get the email right!
What if I use another method to tell friends?
You can use any method to reach out to friends (Facebook, personal emails, conversations, etc), but all of your referrals must be made on the official HouseRep Referral page of our website as well. If your referrals' emails have not been entered into our database through the HouseRep Referral page, we will be unable to accept them.

When should HouseReps make referrals?
Right now, and at anytime, whether official Taglit-Birthright Israel registration is open or not! Once we have your referrals, we'll be in touch with them on a regular basis to update them on how and when to register for the Sachlav/IsraelontheHouse.com trip. If you wait to make referrals when registration opens, you're likely to miss out as another HouseRep may refer your friend first. Remember, the first HouseRep to refer a friend is the one who gets credit!

How does a HouseReps know the status of their referrals?
We'll provide all HouseReps with a status report of your referrals once official Taglit-Birthright Israel registration opens for a particular trip season. If you get a Full House – you'll be on the way back to Israel on the house!

When do I get to travel again to Israel and what are my trip options?
The primary way in which we reward our HouseReps is for them to fill a staff position on one of our Taglit-Birthright Israel trips. HouseReps prefer this option since they then have the opportunity to share their love of Israel and Sachlav/IsraelontheHouse.com with others! However, HouseReps must meet the staff eligibility requirements set down by Sachlav and Taglit-Birthright Israel – learn more here. The second option is for Sachlav to offer you a trip ticket at our discretion or for us to offer you to participate on a trip offered by a partner organization. Sachlav retains the right to assign HouseReps the travel option and dates that best suits our organization. Remember, your referrals must participate on Sachlav's program (not just register).

HouseRep Rules – The Fine Print
Updated September 2009 for Summer Trip Registration and Participation Period

In order to protect our organization, we must inform you of the following important details. A bit of the fine print below might sound severe, but keep in mind that our sincere desire is to have you benefit from your efforts.
  • Exclusivity: The HouseRep program is a progam exclusively of Sachlav/ IsraelontheHouse.com and is not associated with, or related to, any other recruitment or referral progarm or offer of any other organization.  Credit for referrals are given to those referred individuals who participate exclusively on Taglit-Birthright Israel: Sachlav trips and therefore no credit will be awarded for referred people who traveled on any other trip or with any other trip organizer.
  • First Referred, First Credited: In order to receive credit for HouseRep referrals, you must be the first to refer them to Sachlav. If your referral already exists within our database, or has already been referred by another HouseRep, you will not receive credit for referring that individual.  The criteria used to identify each referral is the referral's unique email and that is why the email field is mandatory.
  • All referrals must be made online through our special HouseRep Referral webpage that appears on the IsraelontheHouse.com website. Referrals made by any other means will not be accepted. The criteria used to identify each referral is the referral's unique email and that is why the email field is mandatory.  If incorrect or faulty emails are entered for a referral, Sachlav will not be obligated to offer credit for that individual even if the other details are correct.
  • Referred Friends Must Actually Participate: Your "Full House" (10 or more referred participants) must successfully participate on one of Sachlav's Taglit-Birthright Israel trips within the "Participation Period" defined by Sachlav for you to be eligile for the free trip back to Israel award. If for any reason one or more of your referrals are unable to participate on a trip, including for reasons such as limited availability of Taglit-Birthright Israel seats, overbooking, personal issues or any other reason, no credit will be issued to you for the referral even if they have fully registered and would like to travel during the Participation Period.
  • Participation Period: The "participation period" is the period of time during which your 10 referrals must actually participate on a Taglit-Birthright Israel: Sachlav trip. The current participation period is Summer 2010, meaning trips that we expect to run in May, June, July, August and even September 2010.
  • Awards/Free Trips Back: Sachlav retains the right to assign eligible HouseReps the free trip option that best suits Sachlav (i.e., a staffing position, ticket or participation on a trip offered by a partner organization). In addition, Sachlav determines which airlines and departure gateways are to be used and the travel dates that free/reward trips are offered.
  • Traveling with Friends: You cannot staff a trip with the friends your referred unless Sachlav has specifically assigned you to that group.
  • Program Closure, Suspension and/or Changes: Sachlav/IsraelontheHouse.com reserves the right to completely close, temporarily suspend and/or make significant changes in the HouseRep program at anytime without prior notice to current or past HouseReps or Sachlav alumni. This includes changing the number of referred participants needed to be rewarded the free trip back.
  • Final Say: Sachlav/IsraelontheHouse.com reserves the right to deny HouseReps the free trip for any reason whatsoever, even after it has been offered.
  • Agreement: By signing-up for the HouseRep program and/or by referring potential participants to Sachlav through the HouseRep Referral page, you are agreeing to abide by all rules and conditions set forth above by the HouseRep program and Sachlav/IsraelontheHouse.com.
